Description
We were appointed by Hereford Cathedral School to carry out the refurbishment of the existing How Caple Grange Hotel.
The refurbishment converted the hotel into the first international boarding house in Herefordshire.
The accommodation comprises of single, twin and dorm-style rooms. The reconfigured design meant that students are able to share evening meals together in the oak-panelled dining room. They are able to relax and enjoy their spare time in the large lounge and games room. It was key that we created a warm, home from home feel to the house for the students to enjoy whilst boaring.
Remodelling works also took place, including the construction of two new staircases, over-boarding and upgrading fire protection of ceilings, insulating the existing roof construction and new fixtures, fittings and finishes throughout.
We worked hard to meet the requirements set out by Hereford Cathedral School and are proud of the high quality product that has been achieved.
The project was shortlisted for ‘Best Change of Use of an Existing Building’ and ‘Best Small Commercial Project’ in the West of England LABC Building Excellence Awards 2020.
