Last month we had the completion of a vibrant new development at Birchfield Road, Perry Barr.
The project was split across two sites on a disused brownfield. Site A comprised of 10 terraced properties and Site B 8 terraced properties; the sites include a mix of both two and three bedroom dwellings, with some being three storey alongside some two storey units.
A bold and contemporary design was established for these sites using a palette of materials which assimilates the local area and creates an architectural style that is vibrant and contemporary. The dwellings boast open plan living spaces, further enhancing modern lifestyles and living with an uplifting airy space that has a kitchen at the heart.
To avoid the terraced houses appearing as monotonous ‘blocks’, the roofline of the row of terraces have been stepped by alternating three-storey houses with two-storey houses in-between. This breaks up the massing of the row of terraces into individual dwellings to provide a more attractive street scene.
These properties have been developed to create an innovative and efficient house type that will be developed and used across future sites by BMHT, who we hope are pleased with the end result!
