It’s great to see progress being made in collaboration with Orbit Group and Waldeck on the low carbon, affordable homes at Oak Tree Close.
Last week we joined Richard Mugglestone and team from Warwickshire Rural Housing Association and New Meaning Foundation for an affordable homes event at our site in Bearley, where we were shown the sustainable methods implemented to help properties run more efficiently. This will mean lower energy costs, as well as an extended building life, helping to provide sustainable housing for local people who may have previously struggled to afford suitable housing in this village.
New Meaning Foundation gave a tour of the seven passive homes and we were able to learn steps that can be taken to contribute towards net zero carbon build construction, whilst also highlighting the benefits these schemes have on young people, allowing them to earn an independent living and gain new skills in construction along the way.
The development was showcased to other housing associations to promote the passivhaus system, with the hopes of rolling out similar schemes in other areas of the country.
