Description

J. Harper & Sons were appointed by Bromsgrove District Housing Trust to conduct the demolition of an old Vauxhall garage and replace it with 19 affordable timber-frame apartments. The demolition took just 8 weeks to complete. Sajid Javid, the former Chancellor and MP of Bromsgrove, expressed his admiration of the way the works were carried out and was impressed by our dedication to the local community.

The apartments are complete with spacious balconies which allow the residents access to their own personal outside space – this is important given the current situation with the ongoing pandemic.

The balconies are accessed via large glass French style doors which act as additional large windows that give a wide outside view. We paired the anthracite grey externals with the 4 forterra tweed real blend facing brickwork, which blended with the vernacular surroundings.

Bromsgrove District Housing Trust are also committed to achieving accessibility for all, so the dwellings were designed to exceed requirements with regards to disabled access (e.g., through the easy access location of the refuse stores).

The development also brought improvements to vehicular and pedestrian access to the site, with private allocated car parking and cycle spaces.

As well as this, an additional landscaping scheme was implemented including five ornamental feature trees and hedging around the perimeter, to create an attractive green edge to the development. We are thrilled to state that this scheme was delivered ahead of the contracted programme and within our Client’s budget.
