Description
J. Harper & Sons (Leominster) Ltd were appointed as Principal Contractor under a JCT Design and Build Contract by Two Rivers Developments and their Employer’s Agent Robinson Low Francis to build a total of 7 new build properties, comprising of 1 No. 1 Bed Bungalow, 2 No. Two Bed Houses, 2 No. 3 Bed Houses and 2 No. One Bed Flats. The properties were traditional in their construction, utilising a mixture of brick and rendered blockwork facades, engineered timber joists and pre-cast concrete floors, timber roof trusses, concrete tiled roofs and UPVC windows and doors.
Due to infrastructure restraints, the provision of heating and hot water is provided via the installation of air source heat pump systems. This, coupled with high level insulation to ground floors, external walls and loft areas delivers an internal environment fully in line with the quality requirements.
Landscaping of the external environment incorporated planting of orchard areas and maintaining wildlife zones to further enhance the project’s ability to settle into its surroundings. Due to the overgrown nature of the site prior to development, J. Harper & Sons (Leominster) Ltd, with the aid of ecology and arboriculture experts, looked to minimise the impact on the local wildlife.
