Description
J. Harper and Sons were awarded the Design and Build Contract to provide 13 Shared Ownership and affordable rented units at Eyton Place, Dawley following a negotiated tender process.
The site was constructed within a garage courtyard area, with restricted access and close proximity to existing residential units, requiring proactive and positive on site management.
The scheme was completed 2 months ahead of programme, to an extremely high standard, as well as being on budget. It included close liaison with the Occupational Therapist to ensure that the Special Care Unit reached all criteria and suited the occupant, to whom it was intended. This involved several co-ordination meetings to ensure access, hoisting layout, electrics and heating design etc were appropriately considered.
The project was procured with 90% local labour initiative and created opportunities for 3 No. apprentices, with extensive onsite training and skills courses being undertaken.
A high degree of co-ordination was also required in relation to Statutory Service provisions, including Highway requirements, with road improvement works being agreed with the Local Highways Department prior to the completion of the project.
