Description
The new sports hall was traditionally procured and tendered with drawings and bill of quantities being produced by Worcestershire County Council. The facility was traditional in foundation design with a steel frame cladded in brickwork and timber, with a tiled roof providing four changing rooms, four court sports hall, reception area, storage rooms and toilet facilities. The mechanical and electrical installation was procured through contractor design which required a high level of technical procurement and co-ordination by J.Harper & Sons. This was successfully established creating cost savings throughout the co-ordination process.
Due to the restrictions of storm water discharge, a SUD’s scheme was developed and constructed on site forming a significant amount of the project’s spend with technical development adopted through the use of specialist subcontractors. The project was resourced with the requirement to fully adopt local labour and subcontract resources with quality and diversity awareness being paramount.
The project was completed to a high standard in respect to health and safety, with one visit being made by the Health & Safety Executive reporting acceptable practices and above 85% achievement level being recorded following inspections by our health and safety consultants throughout the project.
